In 2017 Adobe introduced the video production world to a new file format with a funny name- .mogrt.
Mogrt is short for Motion Graphics Template; a self-contained animation that can be exported from Adobe After Effects and opened in Premiere Pro via the Essential Graphics Panel. No more going back and forth between After Effects and Premiere Pro!
There's three ways to import mogrts in to the Essential Graphics Panel in Premiere- the 'Install Motion Graphics Template' button, install multiple mogrts at once to the Motion Graphics Templates folder on your system and in the Adobe Stock tab in the Essential Graphics panel.  Let's take a look at each of these below.
The "Install Motion Graphics Template" Button
Open the Essential Graphics panel if it's not open already Window>Essential Graphics.
In the right-bottom corner of the panel click on the "Install Motion Graphics Template" button.
Select the .mogrt file on your system and click Open.
Install Multiple Mogrts at Once
If you have more than one mogrt to install speed up the import by putting the mogrts on your Motion Graphics Templates system folder. Here's where to find the folder:
MAC
username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Motion Graphics Templates
Windows (PC)
AppData/Roaming/Common/Motion Graphics Templates
Import from the Adobe Stock Tab
In the Essential Graphics panel click on the Adobe Stock tab, use the search bar to find all kinds of motion graphics templates!
How to Edit a Mogrt
1. Drag a mogrt from the Essential Graphics panel to timeline.
2. Click the 'Edit' tab in the Essential Graphics panel.
3. Change text and fonts, all controls may be grouped together.
4. Mogrts made in more recent versions of After Effects might have Responsive Time included in the mogrt build. Responsive Time makes it easy to extend the length of the mogrt clip while preserving animation timing.
5. The mogrt is just like any other clip in the timeline so you have more controls in the Effect Controls panel.
Bonus: How to Open a Mogrt in After Effects
Mogrts can be opened in Adobe After Effects if you prefer to use the mogrt there or need to make an adjustment not available in the Essential Graphics panel.
In After Effects go to File>Open Project.. select the mogrt file. You'll be prompted to select a folder on the hard drive to save the unpacked or exported After Effects file.
After you've made your changes to the After Effects file the mogrt can be exported again by clicking the Export Motion Graphics Template button at the bottom of the Essential Graphics panel.
